Les Voiles de Saint Tropez

Undoubtedly, one of the most important, if not the most important, events of the season in Saint-Tropez

From September 27 to October 5, 2025

Les Voiles-de-Saint-Tropez

In the beginning...

This is the story of two boats, “Pride” and “Ikra”, which, one day in September 1981, challenge each other for the game.

The coastal course announced a departure from the Tour du Portalet (Saint-Tropez) to join the “Club 55” (private beach in Pampelonne Bay) where Patrice de Colmont presented the winner with an improvised cup called “the Club 55 Cup”.

The appointment for the following year involves other friends in the challenge. The event has just begun, Patrice de Colmont will make it grow in a family spirit that will make the famous “Nioulargue” unique. A tragic accident in 1995 put Nioulargue to sleep. The event could have sunk to a fatal outcome but thanks to the particular attention of the competitors and so many others, this October rally regained its place in Saint-Tropez in 1999.

And now

The event now called the “Voiles de Saint-Tropez” has thus taken up the torch with the leitmotif of keeping the spirit of yesteryear. The principle:

— Bringing together different classes of “Modern” and “Tradition” sailboats but also the Wally, Class J, (up to 300 yachts).
— Concentration of experienced sailors or not but all in love with the event and Saint-Tropez.

— Coastal courses for the “Moderns” (departure outside the Gulf) and the “Tradition” (departure in the Gulf of Saint-Tropez) but also “banana” courses for the Wally and the Class J. Note that the arrivals are all (except for a reduction in the course) in front of the Tour du Portalet for a unique show.

— A challenge: “the 55 cup club” which is run between two sailboats.

— Challenges: Dick Jayson/Jean Laurin day in memory of the creators of Nioulargue. This day consists of challenges launched by one boat to one or more others. The course is chosen by mutual agreement and the winner is announced by radio to the Challenge Committee. There is no ranking but just the pleasure of participating.

— The Centennial Regatta honoured by the Gstaad Yacht Club.

— A village created from scratch behind the captaincy of the port of Saint-Tropez is the essential place where exhibitors, partners, “Press” center and the organization meet.

— Sportsmanship, conviviality, festivity are essential.

— Admire, film, photograph... this magical show of nuances, a true panorama of multiple sails and landscape tones, a palette of colors specific to Saint-Tropez!!!
